My Ham Radio Interests
My main interest in Ham Radio is 10 meters. I thought with the rule changes and dropping the CW requirement that I would hear more local QSO's going on but that is not the case here in the Hannibal Missouri/Quincy Illinois area. I enjoy operating all modes so if you are tuning the band, try calling CQ as you never know who may be listening.

My Equipment
Equipment at this time is a Yaesu Ft-897D for HF/VHF/UHF in the shack with vertical antennas. In the mobile it's an FT-8900. I also have a Vertex VXR-7000 Repeater on GMRS (WPVX669)with the antenna at 130 feet and VX-3200 mobile units in all my cars to keep in touch with the family.

My Radio Clubs
I am a WIARC & Heartland Repeater Group member.

With all Hams having voice privileges on 10 meters now I wonder why there is not more local activity on the band? If hams would use 10M to talk local you would hear voices and know sooner when the band is opening for DX. I say lets use 28.300 to 28.450 for local and stateside QSO's and keep 28.450 to 28.500 open for DX. What are your thoughts?
